The first published account of the theorizing that was involved in the development of John M. Keller’s ARCS model is contained in a 1979 publication entitled Motivation and Instructional Design: A Theoretical Perspective. At that early stage, Keller explains his working definition, “motivation is generally defined as that which accounts for the arousal, direction, and sustenance of behavior” (Keller, 1979, p. 29). The emergence of Keller’s model was heavily influenced by a research into a variety of underlying motivational constructs. Since May 2019, the AEM Center has facilitated a #GoOpen Accessibility Community of Practice to seek creative solutions to the OER accessibility challenges facing the #GoOpen Network.. The goals of the Accessibility CoP were informed by a series of listening calls with #GoOpen States and districts. . Our current activity is the development of an OER curation protocol based on the best practices outlined in the Accessibility Checklist in ISKME's OER Curation Framework for School Librarians. The rapid move to remote learning in response to COVID-19, and the challenges many school districts are facing in making sure students with disabilities have access to materials, , has made the development of such a protocol even more relevant and urgent for educators and families.

Action research is a common journey for graduate students in education and other human science fields. This book attempts to meet the needs of graduate students, in-service teachers, and any other educators interested in action research and/or self-study. The Adaptation Guide is a practical reference about how to customize — or adapt — an open textbook so that it better fits your needs in the classroom and elsewhere. This guide defines the term adaptation and discusses reasons for revising a book, why this is possible with an open textbook, and the challenges involved.

VCCS's "Pathways" Course provides faculty with an introduction to the laws that influence the use, re-use, and distribution of content they may want to use in a course. Activities include finding openly licensed content for use in a class and publishing openly licensed works created by faculty. At the end of the course, students will have openly licensed content that will be ready for use in a course.

There are many layers when thinking about Open and Open Textbooks. In this first week of the workshop, we'll begin by peeling those layers back, starting with what Open actually means in the context of education. We'll then move on to looking at what an Open Textbook is. We've provided you with some resources to check out, and we ask that you post in the forum to talk to other participants about your experiences with openness.

In this unit, students learn about the form and function of the human heart through lecture, research and dissection. Following the steps of the Legacy Cycle, students brainstorm, research, design and present viable solutions to various heart conditions as presented through a unit challenge. Additionally, students study how heart valves work and investigate how faulty valves can be replaced with new ones through advancements in engineering and technology. This unit demonstrates to students how and why the heart is such a powerful organ in our bodies

This course is an introduction to the design and development of instruction using educational media and technology. It involves development of teaching and learning materials using digital technologies, contemporary applications of computers and other electronic systems to instruction. Because this is a preservice education course, the main focus is on effective integration of educational technology and instructional design. This is a semester-long course that is taught face-to-face and aims not only to model excellence in teaching with technology but also to provide a safe environment within which preservice teachers work in teams to facilitate active and engaged peer learning that reflects best practices in technology integration, instructional design, content presentation, instructional strategies, standards-based assessment, and lesson reflection. You will experience true student-centered learning in this class with your instructor modelling the role of facilitator.
