Getting Started on openNCCC

About

openNCCC, a product of the NC Community College System (NCCCS), is a library of Open Educational Resources (OER) that promotes exploration, creation, and collaboration, with the goal of enriching teaching and learning in North Carolina and around the world.

The content consists of a variety of learning formats that supplement courses, and provide information and training, including but not limited to links to videos, websites, eBooks, webinars, and articles.

What is OER?

The worldwide Open Educational Resource (OER) movement is rooted in the human right to access high-quality education. This shift in educational practice is not just about cost savings and easy access to openly licensed content; it’s about participation and co-creation.

These resources are teaching and learning materials that users may freely use and reuse at no cost, and without needing to ask permission. Unlike copyrighted resources, OER content has been authored or created by an individual or organization that chooses to retain few, if any, ownership rights.

The user can download a resource and share it with colleagues and students. In other cases, the user may download a resource, edit it, and then re-post it as a remixed work.

From a single point of access in openNCCC, the user can search, browse, and evaluate resources in openNCCC’s growing collection of high-quality OER.

Faculty and Staff

North Carolina Community College System faculty and staff have access to the licensed collections that are only available to members.  Membership also allows users to, contribute, join collaborative groups, and integrate items from openNCCC directly into the Learning Management System.  To create an account, follow these directions:  Create an account in openNCCC
