We will start with symptoms leading to diagnosis and the steps that one will go through to obtain accurate information to start treatment. It is an ever-evolving process with lung cancer to help increase survival and quality of life.

How to care for the breast cancer patient using multiple modalities; medical oncology, surgical oncology, and radiation oncology, with a brief examination of chemotherapy side effects and financial toxicities of treatment, a lecture for nursing students. The lecture will include diagnostic vs screening mammograms, biopsies, excisional biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph node management and lymphedema prevention, and management. Discussion will cover pre-op and post-op management. Lecture will not cover breast reconstruction.

Lyn Filip, RN, BSN, OCN will discuss information about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for cervical cancer. The presentation will also share information about specials considerations for caring for patients with this diagnosis and information that can be shared with all individuals about ways to prevent this type of cancer.

Tammy Triglianos will provide an overview of Colorectal Cancer: prevention, screening, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment, survivorship.

Thomas C. Shea, MD will describe what these diseases are and how they manifest in most patients, the sort of general treatments required for each of these diseases, and what the needs are for patients and their caregivers while patients are undergoing treatment. He will also discuss anticipated complications and outcomes resulting from treatment for these diseases and long-term issues faced by patients treated for these diseases.

This lecture will have two parts. The first part will focus on prevention and recognition of melanoma and it will be given by Dr Thomas. The second part will introduce the student to immuno-oncology and show how the concepts of that field apply to the medications that are used in advanced disease. We will do this through case presentations.

Discussion of cancers of the head and neck, including risk factors, signs and symptoms, treatment and survival. Discussion will also include information on the HPV vaccine. Side effects of treatment will be discussed including the emotional impact and quality of life issues.

We will provide an introduction to blood cancers including risk factors, epidemiology, presenting symptoms, general treatment, and caregiver and survivorship issues. We will also discuss the multidisciplinary approach to taking care of patients with hematologic malignancies.

This lecture provides an overview of the world of resources that are available to patients and care givers who are navigating a cancer experience.

This presentation discusses the end-of-life care options that are available to patients experiencing cancer. The presenter also discuss resources that are available to family members during the cancer journey.

Discussion of gastrointestinal cancers including risk factors, signs and symptoms, treatment and survival. Discussion will also include information pancreatic cancer and the exploration of the recent and significant increase in liver cancer. Side effects of treatment will be discussed including the emotional impact and quality of life issues.

Daniel Clarke-Pearson, MD, and Lyn Filip, RN, BSN, OCN, will discuss the multidisciplinary management and care of women with gynecologic cancers (cervix, uterine and ovarian cancer). The lecture will incorporate anatomy, incidence, risk factors, early signs, spread of cancer and the first visit to a gynecologic oncologist for women with endometrial, ovarian and cervical cancers.

An introductory course on radiation oncology and its role in conjunction with surgery and systemic therapy in multidisciplinary cancer care. A broad overview of a variety of indications for radiation, logistics of radiation treatment delivery, and side effects of treatment.

Unintended weight loss and anorexia in patients with cancer is associated with decreased performance status, reduced response and tolerance to treatment, decreased survival, and reduced quality of life. This lecture discusses the importance of proactive nutritional interventions vital to improving patient outcomes.

Hospice and palliative care are health care services created during the past 40 years to meet the needs of patients living with serious illness, including cancer, and their families. Delivered by teams of interdisciplinary health professionals, these services improve the quality of life and care of patients. This lecture will discuss the development of palliative care and hospice, the components of these services and their outcomes for patients and families and the careers available to health care professionals dedicated to serving patients with cancers of all ages.

This lecture provides an overview of the role of nutrition in cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship.
